6. Sing a Song of Praise
Well before it was released in the 80’s on my “cousin” Cathy’s CD, this song was a favorite in the Baba community. A long-lost friend from high school days found me through credits attached to it. Even more delightful, my own children were surprised to find out, at a Youth Sahavas, that their Dad had written this soulful tune!
lyrics
Sing a Song of Praise c 1979
Words and music by Darryl Smith
Dark clouds are hanging over. Some day, it’s going to rain.
Dark clouds are hanging over. Oh Lord, when will you come again?
Refrain: Sing a song of praise for the Beloved.
Keep His name ever on your lips.
Sing a song of praise for the Beloved.
His name alone can set you free!
His name alone can set you free!
If you ever should find yourself in trouble And your whole world is upside down
If you ever should find yourself in trouble His name alone can turn it around! (2x)
Refrain
Don’t worry about the days you may have missed Him. Don’t worry about the pain that you feel.
Don’t worry about the days you may have missed Him. This whole game is just His whim! (2x)
Refrain
Open up your heart Give Him your love. Open up your heart Give Him all you can.
Open up your heart Give Him your love. Give your love to the God Man! (2x)
Refrain
Give your love, Give your love, Give your love!
